In 2008 there were only 29 dairies left in Skagit
County, down from 56 in 2000. In fact, Skagit
County lost 72% of its family dairy farms during
the last 25 years. Golden Glen Creamery is bucking
the trend: holding fast and even expanding, to the
delight of dairy lovers around here.
Vic Jensen & Sons Dairy began in 1967, and moved to its present location in 1978. Vic and Judy Jensen have farmed all their married life. Vic started as a milker on the farm they now own. Their son Doug now operates the farm, along with a custom heifer-raising business on the premises. The ladies. Judy and Brandy Jensen, started Golden Glen Creamery in 2004, crafting artisan and farmstead cheese. In 2006 the Creamery began bottling milk and making butter.
Look for their cheddars, goudas, mozzarella, feta, and specialty cheeses in your co-op’s cheese department.
