Jackie's Jersey Milk
North Whatcom County
Bill &
Jackie DeGroot of
Jackie’s Jersey Milk have been dairy farmers
for 20 years. Until mid-2006 they provided milk for
the major milk supplier in Washington State. In
July 2006 they made their first delivery of raw
milk from their new raw milk dairy farm. Their
Jersey cows are grass-fed (except in the winter
when there is no growing grass) and cared for as
though they were family pets. Jersey cows have
traditionally been a preferred breed for milk
production because they have a much higher
butterfat content, which makes their milk richer
and creamier.
The cows are raised in an organic environment, however, the land and the farm are not certified organic. They do not use antibiotics or other medications, and no chemicals are used to promote unnatural milk production. They’ve farmed their grazing land without chemicals for more than 20 years.
