Meat at the Skagit Valley Food Co-op is safe, healthy, and delicious. Everything in our meat case is guaranteed to be free of antibiotics and growth hormones. The animals are never fed genetically modified foods and are raised on vegetarian diets with absolutely no meat or meat by-products. Most of our beef comes from Oregon Country Beef, a cooperative of family ranches scattered throughout the Northwest. The cooperative is committed to "growing cattle in harmony and balance with Nature" and is USDA inspected and graded. All of the hamburger is ground at the Co-op from bottom round roasts with a choice of 7% or 15% fat depending on your preference and how you want to use it. The meat department has a good selection of steaks and roasts including the popular flatiron steaks. Skagit River Ranch in Sedro Woolley brings us organic sirloin steaks, frozen ground beef and stir-fry beef. Our poultry too is free of antibiotics and growth hormones. Whole and cut-up natural, free-range Ranger brand chicken comes from Draper Valley Farm. We feature whole organic birds from Rosie. Diestel turkey ranch sends us fresh and cured turkey products including sausages and smoked thighs. These are cured without nitrates. Naturally grown, certified organic pork completes the Co-op's meat list. We have boneless sirloin steaks, pork chops, and boneless loin cutlets. Co-op seafood is unparalleled in quality and flavor. It comes in fresh or flash frozen from the boat. Look for new varieties every time you come in. We always have salmon and shrimp along with a nice selection of other fish and shellfish - all wild.
Shop at the Co-op, and know that the food you buy has met our careful product guidelines. |
