Unbleached, Recycled Paper Products

Recycling paper prevents unnecessary landfilling of valuable resources.  In addition to saving trees, producing recycled paper uses less water and energy than paper made from trees.  Post-consumer materials are those that we recycle from our homes and offices that would otherwise be placed into landfills.

The natural color of many recycled paper products comes from the mix of colors in the cardboard, office waste, and other paper materials recycled into the products.  These materials often end up in landfills because there is insufficient demand for them.  By reusing them, they are put back to work, not into the ground, and this helps "close the loop" to encourage more recycling and less waste of valuable resources.

Chlorine bleaching creates dangerous toxins such as dioxin, furans and other organochlorines.  Once loose in the environment, these chemicals accumulate in both people and animals.  Hundreds of studies have shown a direct link between dioxin exposure and cancer, birth defects and developmental and reproductive disorders.  Choosing unbleached products, or those whitened with biodegradable, nontoxic bleaching agents, keeps chlorine's dangers out of your home and the environment.
