EBB - a week's worth of recipe ingredients

From the Farmer:

We asked two of our favorite farmers, Kai and Jules, for some easy-on-the-budget seasonal recipe ideas. They are such hard workers with great attuitudes and big smiles – and some well-informed ways to stretch your food dollar while enjoying the beginning of harvest season. For April and May, you can find Hedlin Farms kale and cauliflower in our Produce Department*.

After a relaxing weekend, getting back in to the swing of things can be tough, so we're starting off the week with a fast, easy and fresh curry. Make sure to cook extra rice for Tuesday's dinner.

Total cost minus the chicken for this week’s worth of fine eats: $45

Be sure to catch upcoming Eat Better on a Budget classes at the Co-op this Spring! April 13th - Cooking Basics with Grains is next up...

County Agriculture, City Agriculture

Will Allen, the son of sharecroppers who became a professional basketball player and in 2008 was awarded the MacArthur Genius grant, Co-founder and President of Growing Power, an urban farm program, since 1995, came to speak at Mercer Middle School last week, as part of a Creatives 4 Community program, about the transformative power that access to land, healthy food, and clean water can have on a community. He’s working to feed the people in inner city food deserts with his working model of urban agriculture By the People, For the People.
We’ll do a longer feature on him soon, but we wanted to introduce you to him, along with our fine crop of Skagit farmers, who are making the valley a great place to eat!
