Shop 4% Friday on October 22nd to Support One Community One Family
On the 4th Friday of every month, you shop and, together, we give! This year Skagit Valley Food Co-op has partnered with Skagit Community Foundation to make 4% Friday twice as nice with Double Donation Days! Skagit Community Foundation will be matching all of our 4% Friday giving for 2021.
Now, when you shop 4% Friday Community Shopping Days, your purchase will have twice the impact: on Friday, October 22nd, we’re donating 4% of sales to One Community One Family, and the Skagit Community Foundation will match our total to double the donation!
One Community One Family’s mission is to provide support at diagnosis to cancer patients in the Skagit Valley Community. They believe most people are not fully prepared for the overwhelming emotional and physical changes, as well as financial hardships, during this time. One Community One Family’s volunteers are dedicated to the long-term success of their grant program through ongoing donations and fundraising efforts. This local non-profit is less than two years old. Although fundraising opportunities have been more limited since the beginning of 2020, One Community One Family has been able to raise enough funds to provide over $30,000 in grants to applicants within the Skagit Valley Community!
The next phase of One Community One Family’s mission is to offer resources and information to those who have received a cancer diagnosis. These resources will include both traditional medicine as well as natural therapies. It’s important that, upon diagnosis, patients are given as much information as possible to know about all of their options.
How will your shopping trip help One Community One Family?
One Community One Family is currently providing grants to newly diagnosed cancer patients within the Skagit Valley Community. Funds from Skagit Valley Food Co-op’s 4% Friday will be directly utilized to provide these grants. The grant recipients use these funds to help with household bills, groceries, child care, fuel, and any other necessary living expenses. The board members of One Community One Family have all been closely touched by cancer and have seen what an amazing and supportive community we live in time and time again. Now is the time to focus on giving back to those in our community who need help and hope during this difficult time in their lives. They are not alone in their fight.
