Transform plain ‘ol water into a refreshing bubbly beverage by adding fizzy carbonation. Make your fizzy water sweet by adding fruit, flavor drops or soda syrup. Create your own unique beverages where you control the flavor and sweetness.

Plus it’s eco-friendly! SodaStream’s reusable BPA-free bottles (up to 3 years) cut down on recyclables and disposables, making them environmentally-friendly alternative to store-bought drinks. Plus, there are no polycarbonates (BPA-free) or materials in the production process that can produce phthalates or PCBs. Another bonus – no more lugging heavy, bulky bottles and cans from the store!

Use SodaStream to create classic flavors like natural cola, ginger ale and root beer. But don’t stop there, try making a shrub. Shrubs are a traditional American drink made by adding tangy vinegar to water, fruit juice, botanicals and sometimes alcohol. Get creative – the Co-op has lots of new, natural syrups to choose from, including:

Cascade Shrub Farm Syrups

Create refreshing healthy beverages, signature cocktails and non-alcohol mocktails with Cascade Shrub Farm syrups. Made locally in Bellingham by a small family owned company, these elixirs are zesty and concentrated. Cascade Shrub Farm’s syrups contain raw organic apple cider vinegar made from fresh Washington State apples (Acetic acid 6%). They source fruit and herbs from Northwest Washington and blend organic cane sugar and honey. Cascade Shrub syrups are raw, self preserving, shelf stable, non-GMO, gluten free, vegetarian.

Simply mix 1 part shrub to 10 parts still or sparkling water. Add lemon, lime or grapefruit juice, if desired. Serve over ice as a refresher for parties. Or enhance the flavor of salad dressings or baked goods with 1-2 tablespoons of shrub mix.

RAFT Syrups & Tippleman’s Cola

Handmade in Portland, RAFT syrups bring the bright flavors of ginger, rosemary, hibiscus and more to home cooks. Use these syrups to craft delicious natural sodas with less sugar per serving than most commercial brands. RAFT syrups are vegan, and made with no preservatives, high-fructose corn syrup, artificial flavors or color. Choose from basics like Simple Syrup and Ginger to exciting combinations such as Smoked Tea Vanilla or Hibiscus Lavender.

RAFT’s Citrus Rosemary syrup ($9.99 on sale; reg. $16.99 per 250 ml) is a garden party in a glass. Organic botanical rosemary meets the bright flavors of citrus. Simply add sparkling or still water and enjoy. Or check out RAFT’s database of cocktail recipes.

Tippleman’s Barrel Aged Cola Syrup – 13 oz – on sale for $16.99 (through 7/3/18) – a treat for the cola curious, this small batch cola syrup is something special. Artisans at Tippleman’s create it by hand peeling lemons, limes and oranges, and combining the skins with freshly ground spices, golden cane sugar and vanilla bean. Then it ages in Willett bourbon barrels and takes on notes of vanilla and whiskey from the charred barrels.

Tippleman’s Cola is an exciting addition to cocktails, but also makes great non-alcoholic drinks and sodas. Add soda water for a classic cola, and top with ice cream and for a float. Mixes well with aged spirits like bourbon, but also adds creamy notes to a classic gin fizz. Try this recipe for Retro Cherry Cola – don’t forget the natural (Maraschino) cherry on top from Tillen Farms!
