Produce Feature: Oregon-Grown Chestnuts

“Roasting” chestnuts is easy! Score each nut with an X on the flat side. Put them on a baking sheet, sprinkle with water, and bake 15-20 minutes at 400 degrees. Wrap them in a warm towel and squeeze to crush the skins. Leave them wrapped for 5 minutes, then peel while warm.
