Summer Refreshers: Agua Fresca

Enjoy lively refreshments on your porch or patio. Take a cue from the tradition of Agua frescas (Spanish for “cool waters”) – delightful, distinctive combination of fruits, flowers, seeds or flowers blended with sugar and water to make light non-alcoholic, thirst quenching beverages.

Popular for centuries throughout Central America and the Caribbean, agua frescas are a tasty way to cool off and enjoy the sweet and tangy tropical flavors. Make your own or pick up Santa Cruz Organics’ ready-to-pour Agua Frescas, now on sale in the Co-op’s juice aisle. Made with organic ingredients, Santa Cruz’s blends are made from fruit juice and fruit juice concentrate, with natural cane sugar and a splash of lemon juice. Choose from three flavors: Pomegranate, Grapefruit or Mango Passion fruit. Serve Agua fresca simply with ice, add to smoothies, or pour into a mold to make lively ice cubes or popsicles.
