Thanksgiving Wines from Foris Vineyards

November is a great time of year to be thankful for the bounty of outstanding regional wines available to us here at the Co-op. Wines made in the Pacific Northwest are building a strong reputation, thanks in part to exquisite bottles crafted by area vintners like those at Foris Vineyards.

For over 40 years the Foris Winery has practiced ecologically sustainable practices, including: the use of owl boxes for natural rodent control, the installation of gravity feed ponds for irrigation and a recycling system for paper products and glassware. The vineyard, located in the Illinois Valley of southern Oregon, is also a certified “Watershed Friendly Steward.” With concern for quality and the environment, Foris produces elegant and affordable wines, perfect for holiday entertaining! These three wines are made for your Thanksgiving table:

Foris Chardonnay 2016

Light gold in appearance, the 2016 Chardonnay has aromas of stone fruit, yellow apple skins, and toasted almonds. The palate is bright with notes of peach nectar, pith, lemongrass with a slight toast like finish.

Foris Rogue Valley Pinot Noir 2016 – 90 points – Editor’s Choice – Wine Enthusiast

This pretty, affordable Oregon Pinot Noir brings purple fruit character and plenty of appeal. Soft on entry, it loosens up on the palate to deliver a blast of blueberry jam and French oak flavors (though its oak aging is unspecified), finishing with a chocolate note recalling a Hershey’s kiss.

Foris Moscato 2017

An aromatic explosion of ripe peaches and honeysuckle blossoms that is gently fizzy, and fun to drink. Enjoy this juicy low-alcohol wine with any meal, from brunch to dessert.

Foris Dry Gewürztraminer – 91 points – Best Buy – #35 in top 100 – Wine Enthusiast

Delicate aromas of rose petal, citrus blossom and cardamom follow with flavors of white peach, Asian pear and juicy pineapple that are broad, full-bodied and palate coating…building to an intense finish that is both bold and refreshing.

Foris Pinot Blanc 2017

Bright straw-gold in color, this wine is aromatically rich with tuberose and Meyer lemons. It has balanced acidity and a plush palate with pear, citrus with lingering notes of lemongrass.
