Skagit Brew Corner: Beer for Your Pa

You love your Dad, right? You want him to be happy on Father’s Day, don’t you? And if he’s a beer drinker, you need to find the perfect brew to show him how much you care. Fear not, step into our beer aisle and discover an ample supply of beers for every paternal palate. Here are some suggestions for gifts of fatherly beer & food pairing:

Eco-Hoppy Dad: For the eco-conscious brew lover, try HUB’s Organic India Pale Ale from Portland’s Hopworks Urban Brewery. With an assertive and juicy hop profile, this IPA is loaded with green, citrus-tasting hops with a light roasted malt body. This sassy brew pairs well with spicy hot foods, including homemade enchiladas, quesadillas or Indian-style korma sauce with basmati rice.

Old World Dad: If your father has a penchant for European-style lagers, go for the crisp Zatec Bright Lager from Prague in the Czech Republic. It’s sparkling light flavor echoes the taste of lemon and mint, with a hint of freshly baked bread. Pair Zatec with grilled fish, cheese and pan-roasted vegetables.
Adventurous, Spicy-Loving Dad: For those who enjoy a beer with refined spice and bold smokiness choose Rogue Brewing’s Chipotle Ale from one of Portland’s most innovative brewers. Pair this ale with BBQ meat, veggies or a chili of your choice. Or, better yet – bring your Dad to sample from chili at the Co-op’s cook off this Saturday, June 18th from 11am-2pm. Hope to see you and your Dads there!
