Since 1973, the Skagit Valley Food Co-op has established and maintained relationships with local and organic farmers and suppliers. We make our home in the gorgeous and fertile Skagit Valley, where we are able to source locally grown food for the best taste, nutrition, and value.

Local Connections from Farm to Fork

We take pride in sourcing direct, delicious, fresh, and wholesome food from producers who respect their workers, the environment, and the sustainability of their crops.

In the high summer harvest season, you can expect to find produce from over 20 hyper-local (less than 20 miles from the Co-op) farms, filling over 70% of the produce department. We have relationships and partnerships with approximately 30 local farms. Our store-wide definition of “local” is anywhere we can get to in a 4-hour drive, or 250 miles. This could mean as close as the multitude of lettuce we receive from Skagit Flats Farm, less than 2 ½ miles away, or across the mountains to Chelan, where dozens of apple varieties grow at Brownfield Orchards.

In the store, look for our new Local Connections posters and signage, which features the farmers, farms, and crops of some of our local suppliers.

Our growers, ranchers, brewers, vintners, bakers, and other producers are some of the best folks on the planet! Whenever possible, we source locally for the best taste, value, and health and sustainability.
