New Local Appel Farms Feta

appellogoWe are proud to support our local cheese makers in Washington state. Now we can all enjoy more quality, everyday cheese with the introduction of naturally gluten free, Greek-style cow’s milk feta from Appel Farms in Ferndale. Third generation farmers tend a herd of 900 cattle and produce fresh and aged cheese from their fresh pasteurized cow’s milk.

appelfeta1In addition to their excellent line of farmstead Goudas, Paneer, and new Bacon Cheddar(!), Appel farms makes a tasty Greek-style feta. This feta crumbles easily, but is also firm enough to slice and serve with salads, chicken, pasta, and vegetables. Add feta atop egg scrambles or enjoy atop pizza, with fresh herbs, tomatoes, olives, and artichokes.

Feta has a salty bite, so serve it with spicy foods and full flavored pale ales. Look for Appel Farms Feta on our Specialty Cheese Island, available in bulk packaged in sea salt brine. Try a bite of this local treat today, now on sale for $10.99 per lb!
