From The Board: Meet Nikki Boyce
Nikki Boyce
On January 1st, the Board was tasked with filling a vacant seat. Per Article V, Section 7 of Skagit Valley Food Co-op Bylaws, “Any vacancy on the Board shall be filled by an eligible person appointed by the Board to serve.” The Board Chair, together with the Vice Chair and the Board Development Committee Chair, identified two candidates to fill this role and had them submit applications and resumes. While this process was swift, it was done with thoroughness and an in-depth evaluation of the applicant’s skills and relevant experience to serve on the Board.
With that said, the Board is pleased to welcome Nikki Boyce as a new member, who will serve through May 2026 to complete the remaining term of an unexpired, vacated seat. At the January Board Meeting, the Board voted unanimously in favor of Nikki’s appointment to fill the vacant seat. Nikki intends to run for re-election at our Annual Election in the Spring. Prior to this appointment, Nikki expressed interest in running for the Board and has attended numerous monthly board meetings as a member-owner.
With experience in finance, facilitation, farming/food distribution, and general management, Nikki is deeply involved with our foodshed and community. In addition to working on a flower farm in West Mount Vernon, Nikki has deep connections with farmers involved with the Puget Sound Food Hub, Viva Farms, and the Organic Seed Alliance, as well as with networks dedicated to supporting other facets of the food system, like Washington State University Skagit County Extension.
