How Will Your Shopping Trip Support Skagit Land Trust’s Kulshan Creek Neighborhood Youth Program?
Funds from the 5% Friday program will directly support the Kulshan Creek Neighborhood Youth Program, coordinated by Skagit Land Trust. Since 2007, this program has provided primarily migrant youth and their families with meaningful opportunities to engage with the natural environment through monthly field trips throughout Skagit County. Participants reside in the urban core of Mount Vernon, where access to outdoor recreation and environmental education is limited.
Today, the program is multigenerational, with former participants returning with their own children, a testament to its significance as a valued community institution. Funds will support meals, transportation, program materials, and staff time. Skagit Land Trust wants to ensure that gear and logistics are never barriers to any youth or family's ability to participate in the field trips. Support from 5% Friday will help provide equitable outdoor experiences, strengthen community connections, and inspire a lifelong relationship with the natural world for current and future generations.
