Penny Round Up to Start January 9th
In case you haven’t heard, the penny is being phased out of circulation, which has caused a nationwide penny shortage, that has now trickled down to your Co-op. So, what do we do now? We’re going to make every penny count! Starting this Friday, January 9th, all cash purchases without exact change will be rounded up to the nearest nickel.
All rounded-up pennies will be donated to Community Action’s Skagit Food Distribution Center through our Feeding Change register round-up program—we are not keeping a single penny for the Co-op. The Co-op decided a round-up donation was the simplest solution for customers and cashiers to keep checkout smooth and swift. If you are able to provide exact change, that’s great! We are still accepting pennies at this point.
We appreciate your cooperation as we adjust to yet another new normal. Please feel free to contact us at community@skagitfoodcoop.com with any questions or comments you may have.
Note: The penny round up will appear as “Cash Change Adjustment” on your receipt.
